Karma was influenced by her maternal grandfather, who was politically active. She showed an interest in society and politics from an early age. Her uncle was a member of the Nepali Congress. At his suggestion, she joined at a young age. However, she chose to work with an NGO to provide education for children.
Her interest in politics remained. While studying in Germany, she became a guest member of the CDU. She remained a member for two and a half years and became familiar with local party politics.
To gain a thorough understanding of politics, Karma began a bachelor's degree in political science in 2012. She became involved with online activism and joined the Bibeksheel movement, remaining with the organization until the end of 2022. She completed her PhD in political science in September 2024.
Karma is interested in policymaking, diplomacy and international relations. Her core topics are inclusion(equal rights), education and economic prosperity. She advocates for equal opportunities regardless of caste, creed, and gender.
